Duncan Eriksson - Chartered Accountant Print E-mail

Chartered accountant Duncan Eriksson was in practise with a large accounting firm before starting his own consultancy business.

He now consults on tax and assists businesses as an advisor. "In an accounting practice you find that your client's accounting work takes priority and your own financials can get neglected," he says.

Duncan now uses EconoAccounting for his own business and is fully up to date.

"The trend with smaller business owners, motivated partly by accountants themselves, is to do the day-to-day bookkeeping functions themselves. It is no longer cost effective for an external accountant to do the day-to-day accounts of a small business," he says.

"EconoAccounting is the ideal solution for a small business, enabling the owners themselves to do their accounts and only call on the services of an accountant once or twice a year."

"Small businesses also tend to miss claiming VAT on smaller items such as insurance premiums. EconoAccounting does this automatically. With the time, cost and accuracy benefits, the software will pay for itself in a very short space of time."

"It gives the business owner better control, which can lead to significant savings on accountancy fees over a year. And the benefit to the business person is that they do not have to know anything about accounting," he says.

"In terms of importing transactions from the Internet, to the best of my knowledge no other product like this exists."

"For my own accounts, it takes a few hours a month and I can produce an income statement and balance sheet at any time at the push of a button."

Duncan also uses EconoAccounting for the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) for which he is treasurer.

"It is quick and easy to use, is innovative in its use of the Internet and is ideal for a small business user," he says.
