Question: Users cannot download their bank statements. When clicking on the download button for their bank, nothing happens. Answer: This is a problem that has been identfied with Windows XP and Internet Explorer Ver 6. It has nothing directly to do with EconoAccounting. It only occurs when using Microsoft Internet Explorer ver 6. All the banks are aware that their websites do not download properly. Standard Bank have told us that they have been working with Microsoft to redesign their web site to allow the download to work. Their target (which they missed was 4th April 2005)! All the other banks, FNB, ABSA, Nedbank are well aware of these Microsoft issues. Technically the reason that this does not work, is by design (yes, I know Microsoft does strange things!). The newest Internet Explorer was designed to optionally block out all these annoying popup adverts (you know the type that irritates you when you visit some or other web site). Now, unfortunately, the download feature is regarded as a popup! That is why IE does not work. The best solution is to use Mozilla Firefox, in our opinion a far better internet browser. We have included Firefox on our EconoAccouting CD, in the Utilities folder.
